The marriage of AlphaFriends Q & U

Oh, kindergarten is so much fun! We were invited to the marriage of the letters Q and U today at school. The kids were divided, half Qs and half Us. The principal was Queen for the ceremony and joined them together so Q would always have a U. The kids all dressed up in fancy clothes, the girls had crowns and the boys top hats. It was a quick 15 minutes with more "qu" words than I could count. In the end, Lindsey was joined with her good friend Abbi.

Lunch with Lindsey

This week was Catholic Schools week, and to celebrate they have a Parent's Lunch one day. We got to go to school and have lunch with Lindsey! It was fun, David and I really enjoyed the hot lunch of chicken and gravy over mashed potatoes with a roll, peaches, and a cookie....yummy! Of course Lindsey didn't like any of it, so she had cold lunch.
After lunch we got to go to recess! It was very cold, so it was playtime in her classroom. She was very nice to include Leslie with her friends.

Snow Day #2!

Thursday, we woke up to sub-zero temperatures. David got the proof at 5:30 this morning it was -14 temperature. Wind chills were about -35. The high today is supposed to be -7, so it's COLD. Last night everyone called off school for today - there's snow day #2.
Now, it's just after noon on Thursday, and public schools have already cancelled Friday (that's right, snow day #3 - notice no exclamation marks). And, it's a 3 day weekend coming up. SIX DAYS home with the kids...when does spring arrive???

Snow Day!!

We woke up Wednesday morning to about 5 inches of light, fluffy snow. Every school district around cancelled school, except the public school in Peoria. But, all of the catholic schools closed, so we were home. It wasn't really that bad around lunch time, so we took the opportunity to go to Chuck E. Cheese while everyone else in Peoria was in school.

Of course, our girls were out playing in the snow by 9am. They just couldn't wait!

Back to the real world!

I am very happy that everyone is back to doing their normal things. Don't get me wrong, I loved the break and having everyone home for a while, but routines are wonderful! David's at work, Lindsey's at school, I'm at work (a little more the next couple weeks since classes are starting), and Leslie's at school.

Of course Leslie still asks every morning "Mommy, what do I have today?" I think the kid either wants more to do, or really wants to stay home. Actually, she's the one who always wants to go. So I'll take her to the Y in a little while so she can visit other kids and I can exercise.

Dance and gymnastics classes have started back this week, except Leslie's ballet which doesn't start til the end of the month.

Not much else to report about...just waiting out winter in hopes of spring :)

Happy 6th Birthday Lindsey!

Really? 6? It's hard to believe, but my little girl is now 6 years old!

Lindsey wanted a Hannah Montana party this year. We didn't really have a party, MeMe and Pap were in town, and we had a very low-key celebration.
In our original plans, we were not having a party this year, and instead were going to take her to Chicago and get an American Girl doll. Two days before her birthday, things changed, and she was instead wanting an "ipod" (and the day of her birthday she wondered if she could have a big party now).So mom and dad had a date night Friday night and went shopping for an mp3 player - pink of course. She was very happy with her gift, and we think she'll enjoy it a lot more than an expensive doll (which will most likely happen at some point in the future, but not 6).
