We wanted to do something fun on our 3 day weekend, so we decided at 11pm Saturday to go to the City Museum in St. Louis on Sunday. We've heard a lot about it and wanted to see for ourselves. If you don't know of it, check out their website. The pictures don't quite do it justice... There are all these tunnels and slides inside the building and out that you can climb in and through. Everywhere you look there's a hole and you just go explore.
Our most favorite was MonstroCity which was outside. You climb in the wire tunnels that are 3-4 stories off the ground. You go from areas like a tree house out to a crane arm and end up in an airplane. Everything is suspended, and for someone like me who is so afraid one of the girls is going to fall...it was interesting. They were not scared at all of course.
Our other favorite was Enchanted Caves in the basement of the old shoe factory. You are crawling through caves and it's dark. Next time I'll take a flashlight so I don't smack my head into concrete again. The best part is that you come up from the caves and climb a spiral staircase 10 stories, then come back down on a 7 story spiral slide that just opened. It was cool. David got a pretty good picture, but you can't see from top to bottom. We debated the slide, not knowing how the girls would do. But decided taking it was MUCH better than walking all the way back down.
The other favorite for the girls was the monster slide. It was trianglular and the top two sides were made from conveyor rollers, so you held your hands up as you went down and spun them. There were other slides throughout where you slid down on the rollers. They also really liked the ball pits.
We were all tired after only 3 hours, climbing wore us out. But as we were heading through St. Louis the girls asked if we could go see the arch. So we decided to go. They are always facinated as we drive by. Lindsey wanted to go up, but we decided to save that for another visit.
In all, it was fun. It was exhausting. I hope our bodies aren't in pain tomorrow.
